The "Service Above Self" Gala benefits a camp for visually impaired youth and features service awards.
The Rotary Club of Utica recently held a Service Above Self Gala at The Stanley Theater in Utica to benefit the CABVI Camp Abilities program. A sold-out crowd dined on stage and danced to the music of Soul Injection. The Gala raised over $12,000 for Camp Abilities, a program of the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which provides camping experiences for area youth with visual challenges.
The Gala also featured the presentation of several service awards:
• Sister Elizabeth Greim received the Community Service Above Self Award.
• Rotarian Darby O’Brien was awarded The Paul Harris Fellow.
• Rotarian Jerry Kraus received the Quiet Giver Award.
• Rotarian Darby O’Brien was awarded The Paul Harris Fellow.
