  • Greater Utica Sunrise Rotary Club is having a pancake breakfast fundraiser on April 13, 8-10 a.m. at St. Margaret’s House, 47 Jordan Rd., New Hartford
  • North Utica-Whitestown Rotary Club is having a pancake breakfast fundraiser for high scholarships on April 7, 8-11:30 a.m. at North Utica Community Center, 50 Riverside Dr., Utica; members of Utica College football team will be serving
  • Stephen Karboski, North Utica-Whitestown Rotary President, thanked everyone for helping to raise $1,000 at the Pin Down Polio event and for attending the holiday party
  • Maria Pavelok spoke about RCU’s seven year involvement and history with Rotaract and Utica College
 
Outstanding Educator Program news: Joe Caruso introduced this week’s students from Clinton High School—Andries Kruger (grandson of Brymer Humphreys), Emmeline MacPherson. Also in attendance were Abbey Copperwheat and Morgan McGauley from New York Mills High School. Joe noted that New Hartford Rotary and North Utica-Whitestown Rotary will begin partnering with RCU in this program. May 2 has been set as the date to present the outstanding educators’ awards to local educators.

Induction of New Members:
Two new members were inducted by President David. Darby O’Brien introduced Mario Colon, who is sponsored by Darby O-Brien and Kevin Marken (Mario’s in-laws). Mario was born and raised in Utica and recently moved back from southern California. Mario is an artist and educator at MVCC and Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute. Tina Pavlot introduced Travis Rabbers, who is sponsored by Stephen Turnbull. Travis was involved in Rotaract at Central Michigan University. He recently moved to Utica for his job at Delta Hotels. One of the first things Travis did when he arrived was to search out a Rotary club to meet people and for volunteer opportunities.

Meeting Program:
The originally scheduled program did not happen because of an emergency, so member Heather Beebe stepped in to give a short presentation about her work as a personal trainer and holistic life coach for her business Unstoppable You. Heather gave a short, but inspirational, speech on the twelve important steps to a healthy lifestyle.
