A Two Bit Project if We Ever Heard One....

Here is an opportunity for you to participate in a Utica Rotary project, and all you have to do is search for change. Janos, our Youth Exchange student from Switzerland (and newly crowned King of Clinton), wishes to acquire a set of US state quarters as a souvenir of his stay in our country. As his host club, we are bound and determined to make that happen this Friday at Twin Ponds.

This two bit project will depend on the participation of everyone at our meeting this week. Please search for US state quarters in your pockets, purses, ashtrays, sofa cushions....any place you find change (no comments about President Obama's policies, please). Bring these coins to Twin Ponds this Friday, and put them in the Quarters for Janos vessel at the reception desk. During the meeting, secretary Dana Jerrard will attempt to assemble a complete set of 50 state quarters from the donations received. Successful or not, Janos will receive one of each unique coin that members bring to our meeting. Surplus quarters will be passed along to Gail Miskowiec for our Eradicate Polio drive for this Rotary year.

The Future of this Project is in Your Hands. Get your quarters together!!

Volunteers Prep Books for Journey

Utica Rotarians and friends of Rotary gathered recently to assemble a pallet load of donated books to be shipped to South Africa as part of the District 7150 Books for the World project. Many books for this shipment were donated by Our Lady of Lourdes school and the elementary schools in the New Hartford school system. The goal of JoElyn Wakefield Wright and our club's Literacy Committee is to collect and donate one pallet of books during each Rotary year. Keep this in mind as you update your personal library, or reorganize your basement.
