Do You Know Someone Who Would Make a Good Rotarian?

We have introduced four new members in the last month....Anne Sullivan, Jim Willis, Mitzi Reul and Dave Drucker. These new members joined our club through the efforts of their membership sponsors.....Paul Sacco, PDG Larry Calabrese, PE Jim Turnbull and Catherine McEnroe.

Our club can only grow if current members propose others for membership. Please think of a business associate, co-worker, customer, vendor or fellow volunteer who would make a good addition to our club. Submit that person's name to secretary Dana Jerrard by filling out a member proposal form (Click here to download the form). We'll take it from there.

Remember, someone thought enough of you to propose you as a Utica Rotarian. Please pass the favor along by proposing a new member to secretary Dana before the end of 2009.

Meal Deliveries a Utica Rotary Tradition

This is the 31st year of the Community Thanksgiving Dinner, originally established by First Presbyterian Church of Utica and the Uptown Neighborhood Resource Coalition. Thanksgiving has been made a bit more enjoyable for as many as 1000 people because area organizations have donated time, supplies and money to this Thanksgiving tradition.

Utica Rotarians have delivered Thanksgiving dinners to the homebound since the beginning of this project, and PP Don St Louis has been the coordinator of Utica Rotary volunteers for as long as we have participated.

Drivers are needed beginning at 10:15 am on Thanksgiving Day. Click here to email PP Don to let him know that you will help out. Of course, family members are also welcome to lend a hand.

After so many years leading this project, PP Don would like to pass the torch to another club member to coordinate Rotary volunteers in future years. If you are interested, please let Don know.

Refresher Course at Columbus

Six Utica Rotarians were joined by Assistant Principal Pearl Bowker at the Columbus School courtyard last Friday afternoon for a couple of hours of landscape work. Paving edgers were reset, and weeds were dug from between the stones defining walkways and the base for the astronomy dome. Pictured left to right are Ron Kamp (Columbus project chair), Carleton Corey, Gail Miskowiec, PP Dana Jerrard and Pearl Bowker. Missing from the photo are Columbus Courtyard Captain PP Mike Van Strander (the photographer), and Rick Holohan.

Thanks to all who worked on this "hands on" project. We will have another session in the spring before planting season.
