International Flavor of Rotary Focus of Next Two Weeks
This Friday we welcome the team from our district that traveled to Brazil last spring as part of Rotary's Group Study Exchange program. The young professionals and Rotarian team leader will tell us about their four weeks in the Rio de Janeiro area. The inbound GSE team from Japan will have a short stay in our area, and at our usual meeting time on Friday, 9/25, they will be en route to the District Conference in Albany. Because we want every Utica Rotarian to meet the team of five women from Japan there will be no meeting on Friday, 9/25. Utica Rotarians are encouraged to attend one of two meetings that week where the Japanese team will be presenting their program. The North Utica/Whitestown club will meet Tuesday, 9/22 at the Blue Flag Room at Union Station beginning at 6:00 pm. The following night (Wednesday, 9/23) Sauquoit Rotary will host the team at Orchard Hall beginning at 6:00 pm. Please plan to attend one of these to meet the team and satisfy your attendance for the week.

Kamp Takes Reins at Columbus

The 2009-10 Rotary year marks the 12th year of our Columbus School adoption. Longtime Rotary Reader Ron Kamp has stepped forward to assume the chairmanship of our Columbus project for this school year. As chair, Ron will oversee all of the individual projects that we have underway at the school. These include our Rotary Reader program, the Columbus Explorer honor society, the Columbus Courtyard outdoor classroom, PP Linda Allen's mitten knitting crew, and our Early Act student service club.
Over the years, we have touched the lives of hundreds of students and families of Columbus School. Our adoption project is in good hands with Ron's experience and familiarity with Columbus School.
If you are interested in participating in any aspect of our Columbus School project (new members are especially welcome), please see Ron or click here to send him an email.
