Dues Are Due

Thank you to those members who have returned payment for annual club dues. Your $230 annual payment is used to pay Rotary International dues, provide The Rotarian magazine to each member, pay District 7150 dues, pay any shortfall in our weekly minimum charge at Twin Ponds, and run the club. If you have yet to return your payment, please do so ASAP so that Utica Rotary can remain fiscally sound.

Service Snapshot

At Utica Rotary's Board of Directors meeting last Monday, several upcoming service projects were discussed:

JoElyn Wakefield Wright reported that her Literacy Committee will continue to support the tutoring project for adult new readers. Also, Utica Rotary will seek to collect and donate a full pallet of children's books for the Books for the World project.

A Group Study Exchange team from Japan will come to our area on September 19, according to club GSE chair PE Jim Turnbull. The five woman team will be guests of Utica Rotary until Friday, September 25, when we will transport them to the District Conference in Albany. This is a great opportunity to live the international service for which Rotary is famous. Consider opening your home to one of our guests during the team's stay.

New member Megan Balder has volunteered to run the Friday Committee for our club. The FC chair arranges for coverage at the front table, chaplain, and announcer for our visitors and guests. Thank you Megan, for serving your club in this way.

Urban Concerns Committee Continues Growth

In the wee hours of the morning Utica Rotarians meet to discuss and plan projects that will strengthen families and area neighborhoods. Our Urban Concerns committee, led by PP Dave Jones, has partnered with The Neighborhood Center and other local human service agencies to introduce local families to some of our local activities and regional treasures. In addition to PP Dave, Utica Rotarians Phil Hayne, PP Don St Louis, Eve Van deWal and Wayne Baran attended the latest meeting of the committee last Friday.
