This Friday The Zoo Comes to Utica Rotary

Urban Concerns Fishing Outing - PP Dave Jones is looking for a few good Rotarians to assist with this Thursday's Fishing Outing/Cookout at Lock 20 in Marcy. Kids from Thea Bowman House and Your Neighbors will be there, looking for the big catch, enjoying our beautiful late spring weather, and eating burgers and dogs. Click here to email Dave and volunteer for this great event. The fun goes from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.

Build a Bike Day - Also from Urban Concerns, bikes and bike parts as well as volunteers are needed for Build a Bike Day on Saturday, June 20. Assembly will take place in the Underground Cafe at Westminster Church from noon to 5:00 pm.

Thank You to Mentor Volunteers- Ken Williams, Catherine MacEnroe, JoElyn Wakefield Wright, PP Georgianna Ide, and PP Dave Jones have agreed to be Rotary mentors to our new members. We want our newest Utica Rotarians to be active members from day one; someone who gets involved will stick around for a while!

Hail the Tennis Heroes- The 2008-09 Rotary Tennis League season ended with a hotly contested match at the Paragon Center on June 4. Gregg Karl, Bill Read, Dave Griffith and Fran Pugliese claimed the championship in a well played set of matches. On the following Thursday Utica Rotarian Jim Day gave our heroes the run of the Fort Schuyler Club for an evening of food, fellowship, kudos and consolation. Play starts again in September, and the league is always looking for members. Please see league President-for-Life Fran Pugliese if you would like to join the league as a regular or a sub.

Loooouuuuuuuuuuuuuu!- Mark your calendar for Friday, July 24. That's the day we Roast and Toast our 2008-09 President Lou Steppello. PP Andy Alesia and a cast of questionable characters are planning a salute that you will not want to miss. Our Lou Review will take place at Twin Ponds during our regular meeting time.
