GUS on the Move

The Greater Utica Sunrise Rotary Club, a.k.a.GUS, will be changing it's meeting place effective Tuesday, February 24. GUS' weekly meetings will be held at USC...The Business College, each Tuesday beginning at 7:00 a.m.

For visitors, please feel free to park in the parking garage, attached to the USC campus. You can enter the building from the garage, then go to room 122 on the main floor.

To access the garage, turn on to Bleecker St. from Genesee, go approximately 200 yards and turn left on to Burnett. The garage will be 50 feet in front of you, to the left.

Non-Food Items Collected Through March

Utica Rotary's Urban Concerns Committee has organized a non-food item collection each Friday at Twin Ponds throughout February and March. The items will be distributed to those in need.

The collection will focus on those things not supported by assistance programs:

Soaps
Paper Products
Cleaning Supplies
Personal Grooming Items
Toothpaste
Cosmetics
Pet Foods

Please consider bringing one or two items each week. If each person in attendance does this, we will have a significant volume of good cheer to spread throughout our community.

Norma in Defensive Posture

Mary Lou Reape will be in charge of Poet Laureate ticket sales at Twin Ponds this Friday. We are at about half of our usual crowd with three weeks to go, so please make your reservations this Friday, or better yet, cough up the cash.

Are you a poet and aren't aware of it? We need a couple of closet bards to fill out our field, to challenge Utica Rotary's ranking Poet Laureate, Norma Montagnino-Gemza. Since Rule #1 of the competition is "There are no rules," pretty much anything goes. If you would like to compete for Utica Rotary poetic glory, please see PP Dana Jerrard.

Sick Bay Report

Bill Waszkiewicz tore some knee ligaments while enjoying this snowy winter, and is rehabbing from recent surgery. "Flowers would sure make my day," reports Bill.

Former Utica Rotarian Bob Gilchriest is recovering from triple bypass surgery with family in Florida. Drop him a line via snail mail:

Chuck Kershner reports that his leukemia has returned, and he is undergoing an intensive round of chemotherapy. Because his immune system has been knocked down by this treatment, he will be away from Twin Ponds for a time. Please keep Chuck in your prayers.
