New To You From President Lou
Greetings all!!!! Hopefully everyone is having a great and healthy summer. The month of July has quickly passed us by. Our mornings at Adrean Terrace helped to make it a healthier July for the children (many of whom are students at our adopted Columbus School). We served over 400 breakfasts, including Larry Golden Pancakes and Colonel Calabrese's Captain Crunch. Depending on the menu for that day, the offerings included eggs and toast, cereal, or pancakes, with juice and fruit every day. Thanks to the 28 Utica Rotarian that provided the time, talent, and treasures to serve the children.
Our membership Chair PP Ralph Imundo is looking to our membership for ideas to bring in new members and retention of our seasoned ones. To keep our club strong we must share this responsibility. Bring guests, make suggestions and serve on his committee.
Frank Elias, Director of the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce provide us with an insight of the Chambers involvement in our Community. The Chamber represents over 900 members of the business community. He highlighted the areas of concerns that affect our quality of life. Areas such as health, taxes, transportation, budget reform, consolidation and water/sewer to name a few. The possibility of working with the Chamber on some of its goals can be a future project?
Don't forget to bring new children books. Place them in the Books for Babies box on the main table. Ages 0 to 5 years of age are needed for the Conference in September, and all donations will be sent to the St. Luke's birthing center as kits to get newborns started on the road to reading.
Looking forward to this Friday's meeting. The program- Around the World with Nick and PP Georgiana Ide. It is a birds eye view of Rotary around the World.
God Bless - Have a Happy and a Nice
Remember - If you want a rainbow, you have got to put up with the rain.
