Amy Mielnicki Named a Paul Harris Fellow
Utica Rotarians honored Amy Mielnicki as the clubs newest Paul Harris Fellow.
Amy has been a member of our club for more than five years, and has taken a leadership role in one of our major service events. Carol Gilberti told the story of Amys business career, beginning with that first job interview at Lennons WB Wilcox Jewelers. From these beginnings she has risen to VP of Paradigm Consulting, an Employee Benefits and Investment Management firm on Genesee Street in Utica.
In Rotary, Amy has literally served as a Spaghettimania volunteer, is a fixture on our Friday Committee, and is the chairperson of our annual Special Needs Holiday Party for 500.
Congratulations, Amy, on this recognition well deserved.

The Power of the Rotary Family
One of the things that all Rotarians have in common is an extraordinary capacity to care; those wanting to make a difference are naturally drawn to Rotary and its opportunities to serve. Sometimes it is necessary for our compassion to be turned inward, lending help to members of our Rotary family. This caring for each other was personified last Friday by Chuck Kershner, who thanked us all for our support as he battles non-Hodgkins lymphoma.Throughout the period of his physically draining treatments, Chuck has faithfully attended Rotary. Surely there were many Fridays when Chuck could have used rest and recovery time, but he came to Twin Ponds to be with his club. He has also attended board meetings throughout his treatment. He is as much of an inspiration to us all as we are a support network for him.
The late PDG John Engelmann had a tag line about what our membership means at a time like this: \"Doesn\'t it feel good to be a Rotarian!\"

Welcome Dave Bagley
Bart Gorman introduced the newest member of our club last Friday. Not only is Dave Bagley a Utica Rotarian, but he also joins the legal dream team of Peet, Sardelli, Gigliotti, Carbone, Nasto, Matt, Gorman, Story and Golden.
Dave was born in Colorado, and through education and career steadily worked his way east. He is a Missouri Tiger, Oklahoma Sooner (where he sat on the Law Review) and earned an LL.M. degree from NYU. Dave served his country as a combat pilot in the US Air Force.
He is a member of the Oneida County Bar Association, the Upstate Flying Club, Quiet Birdmen, Unitarian Church of Barneveld, Adirondack Mountain Club, and is a trustee of the Unity Hall Foundation.
Dave lives in Remsen with his wife Nancy. Please say hello to our newest member this Friday.

Youth Exchange Update - Weekend Host Families STILL Needed
Utica Rotarians will host our 27 District 7150 2007-08 inbound exchange students for a weekend of fun on Oneida Lake and throughout the Mohawk Valley. We are still in need of host families for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, June 5-8. Shawki and committee have a full schedule of fun in the sun activities planned for our international guests, so a hosts obligation is to provide lodging for the three nights, and transportation to the meeting place each morning. This is a perfect volunteer gig - very little commitment of time and resources, and the opportunity to meet a young person from another country. Please see Shawki if you can Share Rotary in this way.
