Thanks to the generosity of Rotarians throughout the world, Rotary has met the $200 million polio eradication fund raising challenge. This means that an additional $50 million is on the way from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
We're not quite ready to spike the ball in the end zone and show the world our touchdown dance, however. Rotary and the World Health Organization stand poised to find and eliminate the last pockets of the disease.
Rotary Intnernational's End Polio Now effort will continue through June 30, the end of this Rotary year. To continue our great momentum, on March 16, Utica Rotarians and friends of Rotary will continue its support of the End Polio Now campaign with our 16th Poet Laureate Contest.
Thanks to all the Rotarians who have lead the charge against polio.....we're this close to making world history!
