The Golden
Age of Rotary Film
Among Utica Rotary's
historical archives is a growing collection of club
videos. Some are slickly produced documentary pieces
(the Whitewire investigation of PP John Kogut's
administration, for example); others are movies of club
meetings or projects. The man who has shot much of this
footage is PP
Larry Golden, who has honed a reputation as Rotary's
answer to Steven Spielberg.
PP Larry's latest project
is a retro-grade version of Utica Rotary's 2003
Spaghettimania dinner to benefit Rotary's Eradicate
Polio campaign.
Click here, or on the link in the In This
Issue box at the top of the page, to view this
masterpiece.
Technical note: This movie
is in divx format, and if your computer cannot process
this type of file you will be prompted to install some
software.
In the coming months PP
Larry will be working on additional video vignettes of
recent club history.

can cut the rug will be offered.

Bowlers Hit the
Lanes
by Rick "In The
Pocket" Holohan
One of the activities
of Rotary is a multiclub bowling league. It is a
handicap league which means you can bowl as badly as
I do (122 average) and still be an asset. Our
objective is to have fun. With participants such as
Mary Lou Caskey, Jo Ellyn Wakefield Wright,
President Ralph Imundo, Ken Williams, Bob "Eggs"
Benedict, and PP Jack Dale, we do have
fun. We bowl on Tuesdays at 5pm at Pin-A-Rama at the
corner of Burrstone and Genesee in Utica. If you are
interested in joining us this year, we would like to
start a new team from Utica Rotary so let me or one
of the others know if you can make it. Mary Lou has
a contest going. She is trying to find out which
beer makes for the best bowler, and opinions vary.
JOIN US!! And President Ralph's comment from
the podium that the "pins don't fall down, but the
bowlers do" is only partially correct.

Friday
Committee Volunteers - Sam Won't Bail You Out Forever
The only reason that we
haven't been left in the lurch by no-show volunteers at
the front table is that Friday Committee chair Sam
Rudolph has stepped in to fill the void on an almost
weekly basis. If you are signed up for any Rotary
volunteer assignment and cannot fulfill your commitment,
please get a substitute to fill in for you. It
certainly is fair to all concerned, and will build
goodwill and better friendships with Sam!

Survey Says...
Utica Rotary members were
sent an email on Monday with a web link to a membership
survey. If you did not receive this, please send
an email note to secretary Dana at
djerrard@vickslitho.com. More than a quarter
of our members responded on the first day - an excellent
tally!
