Quote of the Week:

"I will never understand cooking shows. I can't smell it. Can't eat it. Can't taste it. The end of the show they hold it up to the camera, "Well, here it is. You can't have any. Thanks for watching. Goodbye."

Jerry Seinfeld

We Meet at the Stanley This Friday

Our club meeting this week will be at the Stanley Theater in downtown Utica. The renovations and additions to this Utica cultural events icon are well underway, and we'll witness the results of the progress to date. After Friday's meeting, you'll have a sense of the scope of this multimillion dollar project, and what the final product might look like.

Consider bringing a prospective member (or a lost soul of Utica Rotary) to this very special program.

From Sick Bay

Utica Rotarian Jim Collis is scheduled for surgery in Rochester during the week of August 20. A quick call or card of best wishes would certainly buoy his sprits.

Urban Concerns Committee Supports Cornhill Family Center

St. Paul’s Baptist Church is actively committed to building a brand new multi-purpose community center in Cornhill. In support of the vision, a fundraiser has been planned and offers supporters a unique way to show that they care, and one building bag buyer will be selected to receive an all expense paid vacation for 2.
Building Bags are available at just $30 OR 2 bags for $50.

This fundraising event is sponsored by Friends of the Family Life Center and GL Media Company. All proceeds will be added to the St. Paul’s Baptist Church building fund benefiting the Family Life Center in the Cornhill Community of Utica, NY.

The St. Paul’s Baptist Church Community Development Corporation has initiated development of the Family Life Center for the Cornhill/ Mohawk Valley Community. The project, once completed, will include programs for spiritual development, social services, education, cultural arts, healthcare, and recreation.

More information is available from Utica Rotarian Tenolian Bell, pastor of St Paul's, or PP Dave Jones, chair of Utica Rotary's Urban Concerns Committee. You may also click here to go to a website where you may purchase the bags online.
