Quiet Givers
2007-08
Holohan, Jones, Mortis,
Rudolph

For the fifth year Utica
Rotary has presented its Quiet Giver Awards to select
members who contribute to the success of our club by
toiling behind the scenes, never seeking the limelight,
putting Service Above Self (hey, that's catchy!). Last
Friday QG committee chair Roger Breslow
recognized the awards class of 2007-08: Rick
Holohan, has worked on our program committee, is a
key cog in our club's social and entertainment events,
and always seems to have a probing question for our
guest speaker. PP Gib Jones will soon celebrate
60 years in our club, and hardly is resting on his
laurels. Gib is president of the Rotary Tennis League,
and is a fixture at our club's monthly bingo outing at
Eden Park. Bob Mortis brings world class
performers to our club, and is our ambassador of the
arts. Sam Rudolph covers (usually with one coat)
our Friday volunteer assignments, frequently pitching in
when help is needed. He also knows the origin of the
phrase "swan song".
These four gents join 16
other Utica Rotarians who have been recognized as Quiet
Givers.

Web Site in Midst
of Extreme Makeover
A virtual dynamo has joined our club and put
his talents to immediate use in service to Utica Rotary.
New member Tim Bozer has upgraded both the form
and function of our club web site, and spent many hours
developing software tools that will make our club
operation run more smoothly. Tim, along with
Ken Williams, Nick Ide and PP Dana Jerrard,
has redesigned both the web site and The Hub to
make our club pages easier to navigate and understand.
New database functions will keep the information used by
the secretary and treasurer more up to date.
Since there is no meeting this Friday, we
ask that you spend some time looking over the new site,
and sending along your comments.
Click Here to go to the new site, or type
http://www.mohawkwebpages.com/rotary into your
browser. Some of the functions, such as updating your
personal information, require a login. Your email
address of record is your user name, and your initial
password is your name in the form FirstLast (for example
LarryGolden). After logging in for the first time you
should click on My Password in the left column to change
your password.
Click Here to email Secretary Dana with your
suggestions about our new site. This is a work in
progress, so your ideas are most welcome and will be
considered as we continue to improve the site.

Centennial
Pavilion Shines

More
than 70 Columbus School first graders used the Rotary
Centennial Pavilion as home base during a field trip to
the Utica Zoo on June 20. Your scribe joined the tikes
in the pavilion for a lunch of chicken patty, chocolate
milk, lime jello and roll with butter.
